In light of the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica scandal, Congress has proposed the CONSENT Act to require companies to get your consent to use, share or sell your personal information. Right now, there's no national standard requiring this. Crazy, right? This is why desperately need the CONSENT Act.
The CONSENT Act would force companies like Google and Facebook to notify you about all collection, use and sharing of your information and warn you in the event of a data breach (which could lead to ID theft or worse!). Finally, this critical legislation would require businesses to develop reasonable data security procedures.
The CONSENT Act would protect our data privacy in an increasingly digital world.
